Privacy Policy
The short version: your WhatsApp data stays on your device. There is no SocialMate cloud that holds it.

Your WhatsApp data stays on your device
Contacts, chats, messages, and media are stored locally on your machine, encrypted at rest, and are never transmitted to SocialMate servers — there is no such server for that data.
What we do collect (website & licensing only)
- Checkout — your email and payment details are handled by our payment processor (FastSpring, the merchant of record). We do not store card data.
- Licensing — your license key and the machine(s) it’s activated on, so Pro works and you can manage your devices.
- Free trial — starting the in-app trial sends your email, an anonymized machine identifier (a salted hash — the raw hardware ID never leaves your device), and basic device facts (OS, OS version, CPU architecture, app version). No hostname, no username, no message content.
- Website analytics & advertising — with your consent, Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel measure traffic and ad effectiveness. They are blocked by default where consent is required and never read your WhatsApp data — there’s nothing to read. See the Cookie Policy.
Who processes this data (sub-processors)
To run the website and licensing we rely on a small set of providers. They only ever touch website/billing data — never your WhatsApp data, which never leaves your machine:
- FastSpring — payments & checkout (merchant of record). Handles your email and payment details; we never store card data.
- Email service provider — sends transactional email such as your license key, receipts, and account notices.
- GitHub — hosts the app downloads and release notes you fetch from the Download and Changelog pages.
- Cloudflare — hosting & CDN; serves this website and processes standard request logs to deliver and protect it.
- Google (Analytics 4 & Ads) and Meta (Pixel) — consent-gated, aggregate traffic and advertising measurement. No reading of your WhatsApp data — there is nothing to read.
Telemetry is off by default
The desktop app ships with telemetry disabled. If you opt in, what’s sent is coarse, contains no message content or personal data, and is described before you enable it. You can turn it off again at any time.
No selling of data
We do not sell your data, and no ad network reads your chats (there is nothing to read).
Retention, your rights, and contact
We retain licensing and billing records as required for support and accounting. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited personal data we hold (email, license/billing records) by emailing [email protected]. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have rights under the GDPR; if you are in California, see our California Privacy Notice.
