Minimum requirements
- macOS 11 Big Sur or later
- Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) or an Intel Mac
- 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended)
- ~400 MB free disk space
- A smartphone with an active WhatsApp account to link
How to install
- Pick the download for your Mac above: Apple menu → About This Mac shows “Chip: Apple M…” for Apple Silicon or “Processor: Intel” for an Intel Mac.
- Open the .dmg and drag SocialMate into your Applications folder.
- Open SocialMate. macOS says it couldn’t verify the app — click Done, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security and click “Open Anyway” next to the SocialMate message. You only do this once: SocialMate isn’t notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to confirm it the first time.
- If macOS says “SocialMate is damaged and can’t be opened” instead (version 2.0.1 and earlier), your download is fine: open Terminal, run xattr -cr /Applications/SocialMate.app, then open the app again.
- Scan the QR code with WhatsApp on your phone to link your number.
↳ There are two builds: one for Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) and one for Intel Macs. The Apple Silicon build doesn’t run on an Intel Mac.
↳ Updates on Mac are a manual download: SocialMate tells you when a new version is out — download it here and drag it into Applications to replace the old one.
