Rate limits, bursts & quotas explained

The exact per-minute, per-hour, and per-day caps on each tier — and what happens when you hit them.

Rate limits are the first anti-ban layer. They’re a token bucket: you accumulate “send tokens” over time and spend one per message, with a small burst allowance for natural bursts. Here are the exact numbers.

The caps

Free Pro
Per minute 10 30
Per hour 30 100
Per day 200 500
Burst (10s window) 3 5
Four live buckets show exactly how much headroom you have.

What happens when you hit a limit

  • From the app: the send waits and is paced automatically — you won’t get throttled by WhatsApp because you never exceed the cap.
  • From the API on Free: a rate-limited send returns 429.
  • From the API on Pro: the smart queue accepts it and retries automatically instead of failing.

Pro. Need higher ceilings? After 72 hours of warming you can raise your own limits in High-Volume Mode — hard-clamped so a typo can’t nuke an account. See plans →
