Rate limits are the first anti-ban layer. They’re a token bucket: you accumulate “send tokens” over time and spend one per message, with a small burst allowance for natural bursts. Here are the exact numbers.
The caps
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Per minute | 10 | 30 |
| Per hour | 30 | 100 |
| Per day | 200 | 500 |
| Burst (10s window) | 3 | 5 |

What happens when you hit a limit
- From the app: the send waits and is paced automatically — you won’t get throttled by WhatsApp because you never exceed the cap.
- From the API on Free: a rate-limited send returns
429. - From the API on Pro: the smart queue accepts it and retries automatically instead of failing.
