Privacy: data export & deletion (GDPR)

Your WhatsApp data never leaves your machine. Here's the minimal account data we hold — and how to export or delete it.

SocialMate is local-first, so the privacy story is unusually simple: your WhatsApp data — contacts, chats, media, sessions — never leaves your machine. There’s no SocialMate cloud holding it.

What we actually hold

The only data on socialmate.app is the minimal record needed to run your account: your email, your license keys and their device bindings, your billing references (via FastSpring — no card data), and any support tickets you open. That’s it.

What starting a trial sends

Starting the optional Pro trial sends exactly three things to socialmate.app: the email you enter, an anonymized machine ID (a salted hash — the raw hardware ID never leaves your device), and basic device facts (OS, OS version, CPU architecture, app version). No hostname, no username, and — as always — no message content.

Export & deletion

  • Export: request a copy of your account data from your account or by emailing [email protected].
  • Delete: ask us to delete your account record. Your local app data is yours to delete directly — it was never on our servers.
Manage your account data and privacy from the portal.

Why this matters. Because there’s no third party holding your chats, data-residency and GDPR concerns largely evaporate — there’s no “they” to share your data with. Read the privacy policy.
